Marie France Bodyline Photoshoot

I guess by now all of you would have known the twist that happened in the recent elimination round. As i was driving for the girls’ next photo shoot which was at one of Tune Hotel’s latest addition at LCCT, i kept thinking who could possibly be at the bottom three and who would get the boot …
As i walked into the lobby, the first girl whom i saw was Dawn and she said, ” Hey Satkuru ! I was in the bottom 3 ! :( ” …
I was more anxious to know which girl left and i kept searching around the lobby to find out who left …. and Dawn just sat there looking >.<! I kept asking who went out ? who went out ? Dawn ! Who went out ?! and she just kept giggling >.<!
Then Ming appeared out of thin air and told that this week was non-elimination week.
All the unnecessary walking i did …. >.<!
Anyway to all that have been criticizing each and every girl, give them a break. Ming, Dawn, Juanita, Natasha and Pinky are the final 5 and that’s that. In a couple of days that group will be trimmed again based on your votes.
The girls were all happily together, all five of them.
This time around it’s my first time working along with our judge, Jimmy and Dwayne the photographer.
Tune Hotels provided 2 rooms for the girls to get ready and the whole hotel as the venue for the photoshoot. Basically the whole hotel was at our disposal. Dwayne scouted around for possible places to be used.
I know a lot of people have been mentioning this particular name in the comments and i have to agree that with Denezia not there, the place was quiet. LOL. Though the girls do joke around off and on, you can sense that the game now is slightly more serious.
This is actually the girl’s second outdoor photo shoot and similarly to the first one, there’s always miscommunication between the photographer and the makeup artist >.<! Sigh, what was wasted ? Time.
The photographer plans who to shoot first and the makeup artist will be preparing the wrong girls. So when i thought it’s gonna be another long day, Jimmy steps in !
“Ok girls, all of you are only given 30 frames.”
Like it or not, the girls had to do their best and pull out something before those frames end. I thought it was brilliant ! It was like ANTM. The girls weren’t really expecting that but then again, it’s the top 5 and of course the competition just gets harder.
First in line was Pinky. She was very fast in posing and the Dwayne was snapping away. But the thing is, her poses were all over the place. It was very rough and not profound. That’s when Jimmy reminded her, “Pinky what happened to the poses i taught you the other time? “
She gave a sheepish grin and Jimmy was disappointed.
“When you pose, it should be like a story. You move with the flow”
Pinky slowly picked up but 30 frames was all she had, and i think she nailed a few towards the end. Jimmy then pulled her aside to have a word regarding her instructing the makeup artist what to do. She was told not to do that and if she ever had any objections or ideas, she should instead consult Jimmy.
Probably because Pinky has experience as a makeup artist, it was natural for her to say what she thought. But then again, if a doctor was going to get operated, i don’t think he would be instructing the surgeon what to do. Same thing applies here.
Overall i thought her photos were ok. It wasn’t bad nor was it good.
“So Satkuru what do you think about my boyfriend? *giggles*” Pinky asked.
“You better step up your game ler. At the rate Ah Fai’s popularity is going, people might end up texting Dream 5 Ah Fai.”
“Hahhhhh? Serious ar ? T.T”
LOL everyone ended up laughing at Pinky.
When Jay mentioned during the Red Bull challenge that she hasn’t much to say to Ming because she was really good, that’s exactly how i felt during this photoshoot. She knew she had 30 frames and from frame 1 she worked it. Every angle was worth photographing and she knew how to position herself in front of the camera.
Just doesn’t make sense when she was told that she had the lowest amount of votes during the non elimination round.
“You got any comments for me or not? :P ” she asked.
… and the other 4 girls looked at me, waiting for my response >.<!
“Don’t worry about your height and also your braces, just do what you do best”
From there on she ended up talking about her conversation with her dad who happened to be bathing and suddenly the mum who was cooking took over the phone, LOL.
I did applaud her for her fashion tips that she blogs off and on throughout the competition. Ming does know how to stand out from the crowd.
Fashion sense, Ming is definitely second to none.
All of all 5 girls, Ming is the only one who is maximizing all possible opportunities given to all. Blogging is something new for this season and i think the girls should take advantage of it and that’s what Ming is doing exactly. On the other hand, too much of anything could just send you the wrong way.
Juanita. Juanita. Juanita. Either you love her or you hate her. Here’s the thing, i get it when a person isn’t performing and does something annoying which in return makes this particular person to be disliked. But Juanita only falls in one category which was doing something annoying. Other than that, she’s doing quite well in every challenge.
So all the comments about how her character isn’t suitable for the show is uncalled for. For example, i am pretty sure most of us don’t really see the other side of top models in the world. They might have an ugly side but at the end of the day, it’s the photos that count. I wonder what would happen if a different girl was to do something similar ? Will the outcome be the same ?
I am not bickering away here to make me look like i am silent fan of Juanita but it’s because her photos still show why she shouldn’t be eliminated just yet. In the end, people will only remember the negative side of her. As for Juanita, she definitely has to improve in the way she speaks. Not that her English is bad but the way she conveys her thoughts and the chosen words aren’t really helping her.
I wonder if she would sail through the coming elimination round because i thought for this particular photoshoot, her poses were monotonous. The outfit itself didn’t suit at all. When she appeared in it, i thought she was in pee jays >.<!
“So how are you and Natasha getting along ?” i asked.
“We are fine, there’s nothing negative between us,” she replies and that’s when Natasha joins her and continues, that it was really nothing. It was in the past and they are anticipating more on what is installed for them in the next few days.
Juanita did ask how were the public taking it after seeing what happened and i told her, “Your photos are quite good. Probably you should concentrate on them and of course, don’t forget to listen to your brother. Listen to his advice.”
Ok before you all bombard me about what is happening to Dawn’s hair, i have to say that i take my hat off for Dawn. Simply because she goes through anything and everything yet she is able to perform. There might be some little complains here and there but when she’s in front of the camera, all that energy is channeled to her pose.
She does look like those typical high class model especially with the hairstyle above.
Jimmy had no problem with Dawn as she is able to whip out poses with ease. The long limbs just emphasizes how great a model she can be.
When she was done with her photoshoot, she asked me if her current look resembles anyone that i know off. As i was trying to recall a cartoon character that did have that particular hair and mole, Ming yelled ….
“Olive !!!!”
Hahaha and i asked so who is Popeye ? Obviously i knew what answer to expect but Dawn said,
“Popeye ? Then have to ask Damian to work out already. Eh btw, so what do you think about my bf ? He got ganas or not ?”
“You and Pinky have nothing else to ask is it ? >.<!”
“Hahaha no lar no lar, simply kacau but one thing i want to ask is if it’s bad to be confident ? Because Elaine told me i am too cool during certain photoshoot”
Sometimes it’s hard to answer certain questions the girls ask. But i did tell her, it’s good to show fear at times because then people will think you would want to learn more. Being really confident works well but maybe not in Asia ? People just tend to see you over confident and arrogant. I mean it depends on situations.
Whatever it is i think Dawn had a great photoshoot.
Just when i thought Natasha was about to be shown the exit, she really pushed it up a notch. She knew how to work her outfit. The poses just kept coming and at times Jimmy would have to pause her and rewind to get the poses she was throwing at us. There’s definitely no sign of her having any unbearable pain which was good. It was a totally different Natasha compared to the time i saw her at Royal Selangor.
15 frames would have done the job for Natasha and that’s a compliment for someone who is definitely climbing the ladder up, one rung by one rung.
I was surprised seeing her and Juanita together when i arrived, happily talking. I guess they really moved on and i think so should some of the commentators.
Being the youngest, Natasha is definitely handling it better compared to previous weeks.
The only question Natasha asked was that while talking on the phone, she was told that her cousin from the US did leave a comment on the blog and just as she was trying to ask what was the comment, her calling time was up.
I remembered reading a comment for her which was from US but i know it was really long. The words that i could only recall were, ” Yes sis, remember you are a Carey and wear that name with pride.”
“My cousin said that ? *grins widely* “
“It was something like that but i can’t recall the exact words”
From there on Natasha only did one thing …. and that was to smile.
Add-on: Just realized Natasha had a phone after watching the episodes and i am wondering if anything is gonna be done to her as punishment. Even top reality shows like Project Runway, the participant was sent packing when he was found with a fashion book and i don’t see any difference in the current situation. Some may say it’s too harsh to do so but rules are rules.
After the photoshoot, the girls goofed around with each other and it was really funny. Dawn needed hair and she posed under Ming’s. Pinky too follow suit. Natasha and Juanita are seriously over with what happened previously. It was really a jovial 5.
Overall i personally think, Ming and Natasha did very very well. I am not saying the other 3 didn’t do any better but with Ming being at the bottom at the last non elimination round, she definitely showed why she should be in the final 3. Natasha was definitely a surprised pick because after seeing all the other 4 girls do their thing, Jimmy did say the standard was really high and what you know, Natasha manage to pull it off.
I haven’t seen the final photos of this photoshoot, so let’s see how it turns out :)
Once we were done with everything, a cafe at Tune Hotels called Ole invited us for drinks. It was really a conducive place to have a conversation and they definitely have a wide variety of drinks.
… and this is your top 5 :)
I really wonder how the next elimination round will shape up >.<!

Pinky came out with a very good pictures at Royal Selangor and Wella. but not here.. :( i didnt vote for her, more to know what Jimmy thought about her~~ so arrogant. Ah Fai ~ do something!! *i like AH Fai btw.. =p*
and Dawn, Damian getting better for a while.. not too ganas. hehe.. but what a shame, it’s not the BFs who compete! so dont bother them~

I’ve a suggestion, all who want/hope Dawn, Ming, Pinky to be top 3 should send in at least 1 vote (just 1) for each of them and get our friends and families to do the same, then they just might get to the top 3. Coz right now, Juanita seems most likely to win because of her strong family backing. I suspect she might have backing inside HP/Intel…you know maybe one of her cousins, distant one maybe…?

initially, i thought the hairdresser did a very bad job on dawn to have cut her hair so so so short. then, i juz realized that it was not the cut that was bad. it was the styling for the wella shoot.
in this week’s shoot, i found dawn’s look really high fashion and sophisticated. keeping her hair slick and short adds some maturity into her young and vibrant personality. making her more polished than she already is.
ming also excelled really well this week. making greater effort to push the envelope. despite being at the bottom 3, her spirit did not fall. instead she took up the challenge to soar.
as for pinky’s attitude, i guess if i am those girls… i would worried about my final outlook before the shoot after what happened to dawn and ming last week. she should be judge so harshly.
juanita has been really consistent in this competition. she is well dressed and she looks really great with her new hairstyle. but, i didn’t really liked how juanita created all the drama because she felt insecure herself. perhaps, she lack the confidence.
natasha is definately a sweet young thing. she is also polished. even when she was confronting, she didn’t loose her cold. i was surprised that she held herself well at such a young age. however, i am not too pro with ppl who breaks the rules. its not fair to let her get away with doing that because she can’t be always getting the special privilege.
i guess u cannot judge a model based on one look simply because models are meant to be able to carry off as many looks as possible. this juz showed that these girls are already winners among their respectively circle of friends and family for making it to the top 5.
also, i do agree that a person’s skill may be important but attitude is still vital. more so… do follow rules.
i truly admire their courage,their determination and their willingness to improve just to pursue their dreams. well done, girls.

To be fair, why didn’t anybody see that the Marie France Bodyline by Pinky isn’t all that bad, despite the little bad comments she had with Jimmy? Ming’s pose kinda made her look fat and with short legs, and I always think she has fat arms. Dawn and Natasha’s easily the best of the bunch. I really don’t agree with people saying Juanita’s pic is good this time, I sincerely think she looks boring here and the whole picture is wrong with her feet covered by other objects.

I like Natashas picture la , very refreshing very pretty and sexy full of expression , i think she deserve to win the title , but i cannot say just yet cause it depends on the judges and voters ,but i vote for natasha!!!!!!

Dawn looks really good. Her photos are stunning and quite fresh.
Juanita o looks not bad either but her photos kinda look like the same for me every week. The photos are nice but not so impressive for me they look kinda similar in some ways.
Ming, as usual, she did well i think.
Pinky, maybe she didn’t mean to be like that.. considering that she is a make up artist, she might be very sensitive to her make up so that is not totally her fault. Just give her a chance.
Natasha’s photos look good as well. But her expression kinda same everytime. But she has nice poses.
I wish Dawn, Ming and Pinky to be in Top 3.

i agreed with many that we should not vote for our favorite(s) but rather the one with the most potential.
since MDG is to search for model materials, i have to say this…
most important criteria is still height. face and hair can be changed given d wonders of a great makeover by talented artists as well as hairdressers. if a person is a little chubby, diet also can do wonders.
however, there is no way u can make a person taller. this is why there are not many supermodels who are the height of kate moss (167cm) which is the min height.

lisa oliveiro: be encouraging. pinky has already improved a lot. the fact that she can say “i freeze like a scarecrow” shows that her english is pretty good. she may need to work on pronunciation. just say nicely.
then again, a model’s biggest attribute is to be able to express without speaking. let the picture paint the thousand words.

Marie France Bodyline:
Dawn: Sophisticated and retro. She envisages a “power” woman from the 70’s with rubbery shiny bow and coat. Make up enlarges her eyes.
Juanita: Protruding ears emphasized. Hairstyle makes her face look hard, coupled with strange suit. Tighs aren’t slim enough for a model. Looking like a tough woman from the 90’s.
Ming: Flabby arms are taking all the attention.
Natasha: Looking very enticing with leopard dress revealing some skin. Oozing so much sex appeal that can fill a 747. Drop dead gorgeous photo.
Pinky: Looking like any girl on the street, mediocre. Jawline is too broad for this hairstyle.
Best photos among this week’s shoot, a tie: Dawn’s and Natasha’s.

Dawn makes a proffesional impression when she is working but she lets her guard down (don’t mean vulnerability) when she is elsewhere. She has been too chirpy on camera and she smiles a tad too much, it gets on your nerves. She should bear in mind this is a competition, especially when you’re being filmed, don’t get too comfortable and let go.Yes Damian, the audience wants a more “action” girl. Heavy make up looks good on her. Dawn isn’t cut out for those “pretty-pretty” themes, she suits edgy themes better.
The pressure is getting to Juanita, seems like she is about to burst. What happens if she doesn’t win? It dawns on me that Juanita’s phone conversation is very well thought of, in fact it almost seems like an act. Che Che is aware what to say and what not, knowing Juanita is being filmed, she asks if there’s anything Juanita wants to let them know. Juanita conveniently mentions *in hindsight* she apologised to Ming. Fact is, Juanita could have taken the opportunity to apologise to Ming as well in her blog, instead she apologised to Natasha’s family. So, the sincerity is doubtful. First time showing vulnerability (crying) at last week’s interview is plausible but doing again at another interview, that is a tad too much. Interest for the hype (who’s wrong) is wearing off, be careful not to dwell on it on camera. She seems to be coached a lot by her family, but is she is smart enough to stand on her own two feet?
Ming’s photo at the challenge was better than the contestants’, alas not the Marie Bodyline photo. At episode 16, she looks like she knows how to move her body but it doesn’t show in this photo. She looks better on motion picture. Of late, there isn’t much to comment on Ming. If she’s smart, she’d steal the limelight (through camera lense), leave blogging to the pros. Bringing up the braces is really getting old, it almost sounds like an excuse.
The prettiest girl is undeniably Natasha. The stylists should consider putting this little kitty in a body hugging catsuit (this week’s leopard print dress doesn’t count.) *Miau* Metaphorically speaking, her CATwalk isn’t on par with the other girls’. Judging on her entire performance, only the Beautilicious and Marie France Bodyline photos are good. Her slight American accent goes on and off. Since you’ve got the chinese gang, she and Juanita are forced to bind. Otherwise both would stand alone.
Pinky’s previous photos have been top notch, this week’s photo and attitude are letdown. It wouldn’t be fair if she’s voted out based on just this photo. Good catwalk, nice long slender legs otherwise. She should stop saying, “Ya lah!”, it sounds really bad (very high pitch, can break a glass.) Can the producer please include subtitles when Pinky speaks? Have to constantly “rewind” her clip to catch what she says.
Eventhough Jimmy the expert says he already has an image he wants the girls to portray and the girls shouldn’t counterspeak, sometimes the styling really does not work or the girls just aren’t pretty enough to pull it off. He was Mr. Nice Guy during MDG 1 but no more.

Dawn is good, no doubt. i think she looks even better with her new short hair.
Ming is also good, she has the kind of oriental look that would bring her forward.
Pinky, omg, not only that language, and the attitude. no doubt she takes good pictures, but when she talks, she talks nothing, there is no substance at all. and that super high pitch ‘ya-lah’ is really annoying!! and commenting on others’ profession, that’s just rude! i know she is a make-up artist, but it’s a competition, doing such wouldn’t bring her any benefit!! (and i don’t really like the make-up team as well, look at Ming’s face, what did they put on her face? like a 2 or 3 shades darker than her own skin!) and why can’t Pinky talks in the language that she’s comfortable with when calling Ah Fai. i feel sad for Ah Fai cuz everytime when he’s doing some sweet-talk thingy with pinky in english pinky dun really get it. how sad!
i like the conversation btw Dawn n Damian thou, it’s so sweet :) and Ming and father too.
Juanita, i dun really like her, even before the fight simply because she looks very ‘model’. yea i know this is a modeling competition, but i think it would be refreshing to find someone not so with the model kinda look. and her tele-conversation with the father is just weird! hahaha she went: hello, who is this? haha omg you are calling ur dad and u couldn’t regconise his voice~
Natasha speaks really well and she has a good body!! she will be the black horse but still i cannot find prettiness in her photo. i dun really like the MJ’s nose.

Ming & her daddy ’s phone conversation rocks! Ming’s dad: “speak up.. just speak up..speak like daddy… see daddy can speak so well..” haha… so cute. I love the phone conversation part the most.. they are so sweet.
This week i think Dawn’s photos are the most impressive one.
My Top 3: Dawn, Ming & Pinky.
But Ah Fai maybe you have to ask Pinky to prepare some script b4 she talks. I think this can improve her communication skill. Just scribble a few lines in a paper.. or form some sentences by heart before she starts talking in front of the camera. After the competition Ah Fai u gotta teach her English speaking to help her to go further.

owww pinky’s supporter must continue to vote for her!! i think she offended Jimmy in some ways that’s why he criticized her in public =(

Originally, I like Juanita but I am kinda gotten bored of her face. She is too safe and there is no ummph already. Her photos are good but not great.
Ming is good too… I love her face. Photo well. Just that when she stood with the rest of the gals during catwalk. She kinda went missing.

Pinky all the way! She’s pretty and I think she has a cute personality. Sue Lin, in the real world of modelling, it’s really harsh. With that I do agree that Ming’s arms look flabby at times and she appeared to have short legs and weird body structure in this photoshoot. Juanita’s body proportion aren’t that bad, though, it’s the haters’ comment that said her legs are fat. I would really like to compliment Natasha but then Shakirah Rahman pushed her way too up in the sky I don’t think Natasha deserves that much praise.

i think Dawn is so intelligent in terms of planning what she wants to portray in the photoshoot, she prepares herself, has no snobbish attitude and i absolutely do not find her bubbly personality problem at all! she is likeable, adaptable, learn fast, consistent and most importantly humble, which is everything in this industry. my choice would be Dawn, so second thoughts.
Pinky is quite forgettable. she does poses well sometimes but other times she let go, she relaxes and then fail to perform. perhaps she does not remember that people do not only compare one girl to the next, they also compare previous weeks photos. she did so much better previous weeks. it is also very important to have an approachable attitude. through the camera, and when put across to viewers, i find it very difficult to like her. she has potential, true enough, but she does not have the rest of the package- determination, consistency, diligence, and motivation. no comments about her communication skills.
Ming.. i have mixed feelings about her. she is soooo impressive in EVERY of her shoot. she is better that many other actual models out there whom i have seen. but when she is not doing the shoot, she seems occupied and constantly self conscious. to have that in a model is dangerous. However, i like that she picks up fast, is wise, and natural in front of the camera.
To watch Juanita pains me actually. Although her body is almost to die for, she has the assets, and deep set eyes that works very well for the camera.. Yet, she makes little improvement. i think that she is there just because of her good looks, she has similar expressions most of the time. and i have never seen her relaxed. I can literally feel the stress emanating from her! all the talk about ‘im in this to win, i am just gona concentrate on doing well…’ is not effective at all! she seems to be convincing herself more but has yet to deliver. Credit given to her for her thickface-ness and willingness to admit mistakes.
Natasha is another one that i would love to hate. Yes, she is the prettiest of them all, is photogenic, has nice body but lack essence, some internal content that is vital for a model. she is firstly very inconsistent, she seems shallow (judging from the things she speaks), and is always ready to blame others but not herself. she is ’selamba’ most of the time and is definitelty not the go-getter type. If based on looks, maybe juanita or natasha will grab the malaysian dreamgirl spot. but like many have said, this is also a competition based on popularity and level of likeability.

good.it more haters than comment.all girls are trying their best follow by good instructor.for my own view the next MDG winner hopefully not only base on voters coz MDG judges menbers know better who is qualified to be the winner.base on what i see among the girls ,NATASHA have the package to be the winner.coz she have all the look as a model.i really like her marie france photoshoot.keep your pretty smile forever you go girl,i wish you all the best.

Dawn imporve a lot, She is so sweet and very friendly twds the girls & everyone there. Ming is a lil short but so whattt!!! she looks great, she’s has a good personality.. Pinky is very cute… Who cares if she cant speak proper english. At least she is trying. Most model in paris and some other countries cant speak english.. All 3 of them look very friendly and they have nice clean skin.. Natasha she looks Ok but very annoying.. she always wanna be in a lime light! i dont think she should be the next MDG. and as for Juanita, shes a NO NO for all of us..She doesnt have a model look, she looks very plain with holes on her face. Ming is definitely delivering even stronger pictures after the non-elimination week, but she looks short in the pictures. I’m starting to worry if she’s gonna be eliminated this week.
Juanita is as usual delivering boring same ol’ expression pictures, but nonetheless still able to remain strong in the competition.
Dawn is the winner for this week, IMHO. Edgy and chic. For the first time I think her hair is nice, LOL. You go, girl!
Natasha is as always sexy and sweet, Elaine always commented her as “lifeless” but I think this week she pulled it off quite well by showing more confidence. Hopes she stays.
Pinky hmm, so-so pictures this week, but everyone seems to focus on her English speaking ability more than the pictures. It is very common in the Malaysian society that one with ONLY chinese education background and peers around are not speaking any foreign languages except for the mother tongue, chinese language. If she wants to pursue further in this industry she has to improve her English, get a tutor, or gets Ah Fai to be the tutor, haha. Pinky, keep it up!

Judging from personality, i think Ming and Dawn have strong determination to improve themselves and they are really passionate. They are willing to push themselves for something new. They initially look like girl-next-door, but now they are really stunning and could see their improvements. Ming’s pose in the photo is a bit weird but i guess that is the pose that Jimmy wanted her to pose. Anyway, she still looks stunning. Guess Ming’s family, friends, and fans have to vote more to keep her in Top 3.
Juanita still the same from the beginning of this show. Boring… she always mention that she just want to focus on the competition but i couldn’t find the difference/improvement from her photos. She looks good in the photos undoubtedly, but just ordinary and not impressive.
Natasha, fortunately she is a born beauty. Doesn’t matter how she poses she looks nice… even though not really impressive. She doesn’t have the passion.
Pinky… erm.. she doesn’t have consistent performance. She needs to work harder as i thought that she is absent-minded. Anyway, she looks really good from her previous photos but not this week’s.
My top 3 would be: Dawn, Ming and Pinky. (I think they need lots of votes this week because Natasha and Juanita seem to have strong family background…hm… so Families of Dawn, Ming and Pinky, you guys gotta vote MORE!)

so,the judges are not biased and they have commented on the best. and all the girls have done their best, in one shot or another. and when the judges say they’ve done good. they really have. just like how they comment on Juanita’s performance.

miowx: I agree with u that models do commercials as well but commercials are not just in English. There are a lot of commercials in Malay, Mandarin, Cantonese, French and all… Given the huge market in China, a model might sell better knowing more Chinese Dialects. This language bashing that Pinky kept getting really push me to pick up other languages for my future use.
