The Homecoming

…is what I love most about this season’s MDG.
In this post, I’d like to drift a little bit away from focusing on the competition and spend some time talking bout what I thought after watching the 2 episodes.
The MDG crew took the audience with pleasant surprise by putting in additional 2 episodes to this season, which feature the girls and their homecoming to see their friends and family members.
I thought it was a brilliant idea, kudos to the one who came up with it. I’m sure that by now, after watching the additional 2 episodes; the audience, voters and supporters out there would have gotten to know their favorite Malaysian Dreamgirl candidate better and a little more on personal level.
Frankly it does change my perception of the girls a little. Allow me to elaborate.
Sometimes when we look at models, it’s hard to actually see them as a real person because of the fact that they’re are too perfect to be one of us, to actually walk and live among us. I mean,hey how often do you get a walking Barbie living next door or even drinking in the same mamak shop?
What I like best about the homecoming episodes is the focus on different aspects of each of the girl’s lives.
On Pinky
We saw her cry (not exactly the first time) when she related the story bout her family pressure on the relationship with her bf, Ah Fai. We’ve all been through the rebellious stage in our lives. Girls like their boys a little bad sometimes but not parents, obviously.
It was very heart warming to listen to her talking about Ah Fai, despite the protest from her mum and sister on their relationship. I can see where her “manjaness” came from you know, Ah Fai must have been the best bf she’d ever had. I mean, good for him, she appreciates what he’s doing for her.
Pinky looks and sounds determined enough to win this competition, and if she does, well she deserves it, at least she works hard enough to get it. Jerad had commented that she is aware of her pronunciation and is working very hard on it, there’s nothing more attractive than a girl who’s willing to fix her flaws.
On Dawn
The super bubbly girl. I really like Dawn’s personality a lot. She radiates the room whenever she walks in. I think you can count on her to go on and on and on and on talking. She’ll be great friend to have around when you’re down. She’ll keep talking until you forget what you’re actually being sad about haha!
Her homecoming video was kinda unmemorable for me, perhaps because Pinky’s one was more dramatic compared to hers (not to mention we love drama!)
Is it me or the bf didn’t look too excited to see her?
I am not sure if Dawn wants this as badly as the other girls.
On Juanita
Oh yes, I’m surprise she has a whole lot of supporters back where she’s from. Her supporters and fans comprise not only of her family members and friends but also to mamak stall operators and policemen! Semangat Johorian!
To me, Juanita is a very focused person, well now, that’s no surprise isn’t it? She knows what she wants and she’s willing to go the distance to get it. She has been so consistent throughout the whole competition from the very beginning and despite the catfights with Natasha which put her in the hot seat for a while, she stays focused.
Perhaps it was all the support she’s been receiving from her cousins and brother and the fact that she’s really in full control of her emotions (although I have to agree snapping back at Natasha was a good one!) I can see that Juanita wants this, badly.
How badly, I don’t know… her pictures told me otherwise. Her facial expression were pretty much the same in the last few pictures. She has the looks, body and attitude but is she versatile enough for just any photoshoot?
On Ming
Now this girl took me by storm. I know she has perfect flawless looking skin and takes good pictures but there are just so much more about Ming. After viewing her video I went “Wow, this girl sure IS talented” I like her drive in life, not being afraid to try out different things.
She may still be young and fresh but I like her positive take on life. Ming deserves to win.
And isn’t her dad the cutest or what? He has to be most bubbly, outgoing, energetic (not to mention pretty buffed up too! sorry uncle it was just an observation!) dad I’ve came across in a long long while. Cute supportive family alright =)
And oh, an advice to the bf, Ming is one hot, young and very talented chick, unless he starts getting LESS calculative of which Ming complained about, someone else would!
I have finally decided who to vote for the Malaysian Dreamgirl, have you?

Im Ming biggest Fan. You are absolutely right, Ming is the winner to Ming no matter what. She will win this competition for sure. She is so talented with her marvelous voice, with her computing skill, with her fashion sense and her beautiful self. I wish Im like her. How I wish to get 20% of her talent.

i am very impressed with Ming’s homecoming episode, i too agree Ming’s dad is very cute and sweet one =) very cheerful and supportive to his daughter. And very surprised to find out Ming is also very talented,her drawing and her voice are good, i like the song she sang ‘goodbye to you’??!….. regrettably,i cant vote for her from oversea, but i really want to see more of Ming in future. I guess if it’s a big surprise, then it’s not Dawn! Since everybody thinks that she is going home. Woohoo!! Maybe the surprise is that NOBODY goes home? It would really make my day if the surprise is that Juanita went home! :D

What does Juanita mean when she says that Ming doesn’t look 100% chinese, more like nyonya and ‘russian’!?!?!? Is she a retard??? Ming looks 100% chinese, a perfect flawless example of how beautiful east asian ladies are. Juanita should have been the one voted out…looks like those mamak shop boys are really promoting her. Good, she can be the next top model for Tea Tongkat Ali or something like that. Ming….it was a great journey and I felt that you have been shortchanged. Oh well, like you said, it’s just the beginning of your career. You go girl! :D

fan of ah fai..if not mistake, Ming has chinese, chinese peranakan(baba nyonya) and russian blood..her mom must be the one with peranakan and russian heritage(she look mixed)..Ithink that’s what Juanita meant..
Juanita should have been voted out? I don’t think that possible..you can only vote someone to stay in the competition what..maybe people didn’t vote enough for poor Ming..but I think Juanita deserve to be in..she really good model..I think she very pretty :)
