I said it once and I’ll say it again. I love reality. R-E-A-L.
The end of the road…
We have a new Malaysian Dreamgirl.
Juanita Francis is the winner of Malaysian Dreamgirl Season 2. Who would’ve thought? Even she didn’t think so.
Juanita started off with a great deal of determination. I remember watching her on the day of her first photoshoot. Confident, yet unsure. Absorbing everything around her yet remaining a little oblivious and void. From the start, she was a contradiction in herself, and it only got worse as the drama unfolded. We saw a side to Juanita that was cold, calculating and vindictive. But as the show progressed, she seemed to develop into a more stable character, focusing more on the modeling and less on the drama. Her relationship with the girls improved dramatically, and as the top three spent their final weeks together they appeared to develop a bond that is now unbreakable.
Do I think she deserved to win?
My answer is YES.
She poured her blood, sweat and tears into this competition, and was well deserving of the title. Her photos were hit and miss, and as I’ve said before, often looked a little stiff and controlled. As the new Malaysian Dreamgirl, Juanita needs to keep up the hard work and aim for the sky.
Do I think she was the best choice to win?
My answer is NO.
Pinky was the best contestant, shining over and over again in all her photoshoots. She shone on the night of the finale.
She was simple in character but exuded a warmth and sophistication in her photos. Always consistent, always improving. Pinky was the shining star that took the competition to a whole new level.
And as for Dawn…
Dawn deserved to be in the top three. She also deserved to come in third. Although sweet and kind, staying out of trouble throughout the season, she failed to show that extra something in her pictures. They were good, demonstrating a lot of freedom and movement, but her facial expression remained a little blank and lifeless.
The girls at the finale were stunning, although I’m not too sure what was going on with their hair. They all looked a little like a 3 year old had grabbed a bunch of rubberbands and knotted little balls on their heads.
Hmm… Shawn Cutler gets it SO wrong sometimes!
The dresses from Limkokwing and other local designers were interesting, some more than others. Elaine Daly and Will Quah were the perfect hosts, and kept the night moving along smoothly. Andrew of Andrews Models and Julie of Beautilicious had a bit of banter on stage.
Online Judges Kenny Sia and Kinky Blue Fairy made an appearance. Kenny, always a good sport, even strutted his stuff on the runway.
Season One Dreamgirl’s were dotted around. Jaishana backstage, Aly interviewing family members as they arrived, and Fiqa and Adeline spectators in the crowd.
It was a long evening, and dragged on at points, especially with the poor excuse for a percussion band. But all in all, you could feel the excitement in the air, and the tension mounted before the final results were announced.
It was exciting to see the girls on stage, together again for the last time.
Rajvin was not there but we had Acha, Maya, Farah, Liana, Denezia, Natasha, Ming, Pinky, Dawn and Juanita. Those are your Malaysian Dreamgirls, Season Two.
The search is over.
For now…
Season Three is coming soon to a computer screen near you. Who will be the next Malaysian Dreamgirl?
You’ll find out soon enough…

anyway damn is elaine daily on heels or not? doesnt look like she is wearing hell.. damn she is to tall

Sue Lin… i thought after the finale would have interviews of all the girls? they only show the past intervies…
the last episode is really boring!! I like Dawn now…she is really nice and also like a big sister to Pinky.

This is my first ever comment. So first of all many thanks to all my friends and fans for your support.
As for the last episode, Timmak, they were supposed to interview all eleven but not all turned up. And thanks for liking me NOW Timmak. hehe :)

oh we were supposed to meet up the day after finale to do the interviews. Not all was there that’s why they can’t do the interviews as planned I think.

Really Juanita’s make up did her no justice. She looked scary on that day =( But i was constantly cheering for her. She looked good the first time i saw her in Jb auditions =)

yeah i agree. but then again i think its the makeup, probably the worst makeup she’s ever had on compared to the times she overdid her makeup herself in show. in the show i think it was overdone but she didnt look old, but this so called professionally done makeup does make her look draggish and totally does no justice to her sharp features which can be stunning with the right colors and tones. anyhow i’m not sure if its just the makeup artiste or what, but as a brown skinned person i have to say that most local or asian cosmetic brands don’t cater well to us in terms of the colors. and i dont think beautilicious is any different.

i blame the makeup label beautilicious. i believe the color range isnt as wide n comprehensive like mac or other brands used in runways. being a local brand which is most probably chinese-owned (no offence), beautilicious may not hv colors suitable for dark or tan-skinned gerls as opposed to other international brands.

no leh … my fren a malay also got go to a make up shop before… (their customer mainly are chinese)
and she got a very bad make up from there coz the make up artist , did her face using chinese fair skin style which not suitable for tanned skills..

beautilicious sponsors mdg this season. so i assume make-up for the entire competition is done using that one n only brand, am i rite? its a diff story if other brands which r typically used for runway makeup…
being a malay n having tanned skin, i usually buy my base n powder frm brands like mac, bobbi brown…surprisingly lotsa of american labels out there hv a real comprehensive range for all skin tones…probably to cater to the needs of consumers of diff ethnicity..
