Catwalk Class @ Andrewsmodels

I know there has been a lot of comments flying in and out on how some girls just don’t make the cut and so forth and i too thought the same until i was assigned for this task which was the Catwalk Class by Andrewsmodels. Modeling just doesn’t stop at having a pretty face and great legs *of course the more one has, the more complete she is as a model* but she has to be able to walk the runway.
As we follow through this season, we would eventually see who is able to withstand all challenges thrown at her in the course of this season.
The girls arrived first and for some reason i just felt the mood in the room was rather cold … or probably it was the aircond >.<! If you are following the episodes, this catwalk session was the next day after 2 girls were caught in possession of handphones. But of course i didn’t know yet.
The production crew then adjourned to the next floor to meet up with Andrew at his office.
Tini and Ethel were given the task to show how to pose as well as do a proper catwalk. At this point, i realized something just didn’t look right with Farah. She gave me the impression that she cried the previous night and so was Liana. But Liana was really quiet among the girls. She did talk occasionally but that’s about it. The rest were their usual self, being all bubbly and eagerly waiting for the next agenda.
Andrew explained that doing a catwalk doesn’t mean that you would be walking down the runway alone. Sometimes you might just do it in pairs and the girls would learn how to adjust their pose regardless if it was a male or female partner.
First up was posing. The girls would have to know how to pose before walking down the runway and here almost everyone was given reminders not the hunch and not to stand in a lazy mode a.k.a apek mode. Some girls had this trouble because they stood with their hand at the back of the hip and extending their stomach out. This is where Tinie and Ethel would personally go to each and every one of them; to correct their pose.
The girls were then taught how to walk and if possible do a signature walk. Some did end up galloping like a horse and some just did it naturally. Then there’s a few who just can’t get it, which was quite disappointing knowing that this is the top 12 or rather 11. Oh ya, this is when i noticed someone was missing and i actually asked the production crew if they did leave someone behind >.<!
Once the girls had the basic of catwalk, they were then told to combine their previous pose and walk together. The girls would walk to the middle of the room, strike a pose and walk down as though it was a runway. Then walk back to the middle and exit the opposite side as how they made the entrance.
Some girls did change their heels off and on to make sure they can do their walk properly. That’s to those who tried to rectify their problem. Some just decided to sit and whine about how pain and hard is it to execute their walks in high heels.
“Honey, my heels are six inches and yours is only three”
I couldn’t recall if it was Tini or Ethel who said that but the girls then just kept quiet and practiced their walk, lol.
It was already lunch hour and the girls were given time to rest and as well as have their lunch. I had the impression that their lunch was prepared by the production crew since it was all packed in styrofoam but later on Dawn told that each girl would have to prepare their own.
Lunch time was also when i noticed the girls had 2 camps. I didn’t know what was happening and by then Angela already left and i was alone. After some digging around, i found out that one camp was with the girls who were caught with the handphones and the other was the one who are pissed.
Earlier on i did say i felt something amiss with Farah, so now that it’s free time i asked her directly …
“Eh what happened lah”
“Why why ?”
“No lah, you looked like you cried for days”
“Is it that obvious ?”
“Ermmm i know i can see it. Why lar, what happened?”
“Hmmmm what do you think about my hair ? Cause i really missed my long hair”
“Ooo it’s because of how you look ?”
“Yessssssss and yessss i did cry because i don’t really like it. My face doesn’t suit this hairstyle”
The girls did a makeover for their hairstyle and ermmmm to be frank, some are not really justified >.< I am no hairstylist but i think some of the girls had their hair all butchered up. In Farah’s case, her face definitely didn’t suit the hairstyle cause comparing her to other girls who had short hair, she had a bigger jaw. So for some reason the short hair just magnifies that area.
Personally i like what they did with Dawn’s and Juanita’s ……….. and also Natasha’s.
During lunch, the girls continued practicing their walks in the room as well as outside. And for those who wanted to let loose, like Dawn and Ming, they started dancing. LOL.
Now that they know how to pose and walk … alone, the girls were all paired up randomly to see if they could do it with someone by their side. Those who could execute it without trouble were allowed to rest and those who couldn’t went back to the queue. Some had to change partners to have that certain chemistry. It’s not easy to pose with someone else by your side cause both need to know when and where to stop. Denezia, Pinky and Ming got this right with one go but they did try over and over again with different partners.
Sometimes the partner would stand slightly too far and the other person would need to compromise her pose to be nearer. Tini actually made it look very easy and the girls picked up from there on.
Just when i thought they were gonna call it a day, Tini and Ethel told it was time to stand on boxes to model for accessories and the girls were like @_@!
Modeling has so many sub-branches and catwalk is only one of them.
This was probably the hardest task of them all. Just imagine if one couldn’t even do a proper catwalk let alone stand all day long in heels, standing and walking on different height platforms would be a mountain to climb. Besides doing a balancing act while moving to a higher platform, the girls have to look elegant during the transition. In this case, the girls were asked to pretend they were modeling with a bracelet and they had to make sure their hands are placed high enough for the audience to see but not too high for the armpit to be seen :P
It was a super long day for the girls and it was good to see some of them did enjoy themselves and even had the chance to fool around. Pinky was acting that she was tired, Natasha showed she wanted 2 nasi lemak, Dawn was showing Ming how to dance and Acha was just being bubbly all over :)
As for the day’s session, i think the person who actually stood out and was even able to give pointers was Shasya. Whatever Ethel and Tini threw at the girls, she always came out top. At the other end of the pack, i would have to say Farah. I am not sure if she was emotionally drained but her catwalk was just unbearable to watch. She still has time to work on it before the first runway show and we will see if there’s any improvements. Others that could improve are like Maya, Natasha and probably Juanita. Maya has that deadly look when she strikes her pose and when i say deadly i meant the look like she wants to eat you up. Tini did mention this to her and asked her to be more subtle. This was where Liana shone with her sultry look. Natasha just needs more practice as she keeps forgetting the steps and Juanita is more comfortable walking on her on. During the partner session, she had to change a few times before nailing the moves. The rest did better if not average comparing to the rest.
The voting has begun and i am pretty sure everyone will be wondering what will happen on Monday when the girls will take center stage for their first ever runway. Will tables be overturned ? or will it just be the same outcome as how some did during this catwalk session by Andrewsmodels ?

P/S: If you realized, the final group photo has someone missing. To all Maya fans out there, she was actually out for an interview with the production crew. So don’t slaughter me ya :)

ahh~ beautiful photos!! the power of 2.8 bro!! LOL and your updates!! it’s as juicy and like what debra said, as honest as ever which made it very very interesting!! So much to learn from you when it comes to write up man!! =D
Owh well, i was right in opening it up for you for the press release!! haha… you’re a better writer =P can’t wait to catch up with the girls on monday man! haha they must be well prepared for their first ever public runway appearance :P

after watching episode 6,
i really dont like pinky and denezia.
who are they to say they dont like liana, farah and natasha. they are all in the same house.

shasya is the most unique gurl i have to say..
all of the other gurl is soo typical..
i have no doubt that shasya can win dis thing..
but if there are some person who want her down then i think they are soo stupid+do not know how to judge the beautiness within her..

In Acha’s profile video, her posture holding the violin is all wrong. Has she ever learnt the basic…
Pinky, Ming, Dawn, Juanita are confident and seem to know well what they are doing in the competition. Farah is pretty but weak. Natasha will go far with her unique look. Maya needs to understand her beauty and to bring it out more. It’s afterall about modeling and not just being pretty. Denezia and Liana don’t really have what it takes on set, they should be out soon. Acha seems all over. No big fan of Shasya, expecting more from her since she already have modeling experience. The competition is for those who are well prepared.

dorris…woah…u r getting a tad personal dont u think? for one thing i cant join MDG coz i’m not a msian…but been a fan of MDG since season 1 nevertheless…but thats beside the point. i’m just giving a comment as a reality show viewer. yup i think maya is the weakest link n thats my POV. too bad if u think i’m stating rubbish;)

denezia look like kimora lee simmons.
she’s talkative. But mean sometimes.
i mean. all the time. shes annoying.
it’s a good thing maybe. as a model it’s important to promote urself. people know you at least.
Ming looks gorgeous, she knows what to do.
so no negative comment for her
fara is very outstanding. but she needs to work on her cat walk. more power.
Liyana is hot but quite common. i haven seen enuf of her picture yet.
the rest can go home. especially pinky. go for cina drama lah!

Farah needs to slim down on her legs. Did anyone see her catwalk… or should I say, fatwalk? Her legs can hardly cross. Her body will be too ugly to be seen on the runway. Short, bad proportion, the apparent clumsiness and the fatness. In addition to all of this, she is not friendly and too pampered. How could she complain about all the tight schedule of the MDG faily routine? Isn’t it herself that wanted to be on the show so much, and now telling us she’s sick of all those arrangements? Don’t get me wrong, I think she has an angelic face but that’s about it. Yeah.

i hv to agree that farah is a bit pampered n seems to be complaining abt everything..n the recent “confrontation” with ming n dawn was just so stupid n pointless. she claims that she has a “mental illness”? lame excuse. but cant deny her photoshoot went really well n she looks real gd in photos! change the attitude babe!
