Beautilicious Photoshoot

We have seen them talk, we have seen them walk …. so how would they fair in their first photo challenge ? At first i thought this photo challenge would be a breeze for these girls judging from the amount of random photos they have been posting from the dream house, lol. But nope, i was wrong. Some took longer than expected to be in their own element.
To be a model, one either has to excel in their walk or look simply stunning in a photoshoot and if you can’t do either one of it, you would be out of this competition before you could even finish reading this sentence.
So yeah, i was actually looking forward to the girls who couldn’t excel during the catwalk and wondered if they could blow us away with their photos.
The girls were there early to get the necessary done; to look good in their photoshoot.
The girls first get their make-ups done before being towed to the next station for a hair-do. As one by one prepared for their photo shoot, i realized there were some irregularities on the make up especially for the more darker skin girls like Juanita and Shasya. Shasya’s was still photographable *not sure if that’s even a word >.<!* but Juanita’s was just terrible. Without proper lighting i could barely take a decent photo of her. She did asked me indirectly if something looked wrong but me being a noob in makeup simply blamed it on bad lighting at the make up area. Of course once i saw Shasya, i just felt probably the make up artist has a hard time coping with darker skin or it’s just meant to be like that.
As for me, i didn’t like how Juanita’s and Shasya’s faces turned out.
I love how they have transformed each of the girl’s hair. It definitely showed a different side of the girls and i was even surprised how some of their girls turned out to look though they had only short hair.
With the hair done, the girls will then wait for their turn to be photographed.
Of course during the shoot, the other girls will be observing each and everyone’s move. After all it’s a competition and it’s good to know how your rival is fairing. The yellow cloth is there for a reason but as the competition intensifies, the girls would just do anything to be ahead of the pack.
Some readers have asked me, if the girls are as how they appear in the video.
The answer is YES.
Even when i was jotting down notes during this photoshoot, it was obvious that there’s 2 camps. They do actually talk to each other but probably just for the sake of talking.
Each photoshoot session could easily last for 20-30 minutes and during this duration, the girls would have to maintain at their best to get good pictures.
What happens if you suddenly smudged your mascara or your hair falls?
The make up artist as well as hair dresser would appear out of thin air to your aid, lol :P
The girls were divided to three groups of posing. First up was sitting on a block of wood. Second was leaning on the wall and last but not least, lying on the floor.
Acha did pretty well i think. She was very natural in almost every pose. She showed her versatility when she decided to pose on her own for some of the shots which impressed even the photographer. Being the first to be posing on the floor, Acha didn’t show any limitations though she was a bit nervous at the beginning.
Dawn was able to use her shoulders to create more creative poses. It was also an advantage being one of the tallest here as her body lines would work into her favour especially in later part of the competition. I know this is gonna sound silly but at one point, i actually thought i saw Sammy Cheng >.<! Lol does anyone disagree with me? There’s just something wrong with her lips. Not sure if the make up artist accidently applied her lipstick higher than usual on her upper lips …
Denezia being in her own element definitely gives better pose. Even with these random shots of her, she could give me a variety and let me remind you, she’s only 17. When asked to give an angry expression, Denezia did it without a twitch, lol.
If you asked Farah on how she faired in her catwalk class, she could reply, “What catwalk class?” ROFL, that’s because she managed to pull one back with her photoshoot. Her photos came out better than expected. Let me quote this from reader …

I have to agree on that. Forget about her choppy walks but i think Farah did an excellent job.
Where do i even begin with Juanita. Though the make up wasn’t to my liking but her photos did turn out well. Probably with a few tweaking by our maestro George-the-photographer, Juanita’s photo turned out so much better than seeing her in person. She knew how to pose in front of the camera but i think she should be brave enough to voice out if she doesn’t like how the make up was applied. After all she’s the one running for the competition and not the make up artist.
Though being tired and sick, Liana showed the rest that she’s not going down without a fight. Leave the handphones in the past and here she is showing where she feels most comfortable at and that is in front of the camera. I have said it once and i will say it again, she does have that sultry look which works every single time but i think it’s high time that she shows us more and not the same look all the time.
Maya definitely looked out of place. When the photographer gave her the privilege to direct her own pose, Maya seemed to be one dimensional. Her piercing eyes were an issue again. So much so that the photographer had to instruct her to close her eyes and open it slowly when she hears the cue. Probably she needs to practice more in front of the mirror.
Where Ming lacked which is the height department, she made it up in this photo session. Her skin was flawless and her high cheekbones gave her that unique look which makes her standout from the rest. The only thing holding her back is probably her braces. But it’s noticeable that as this competition carries on, she’s starting to be comfortable with her smiles.
Natasha has that elegant look about her and all this is thanks to her short hair. She reminds me of the actresses of the 50s. Her eyes were her plus points and all Natasha had to do was smile. She naturally knew how she wanted to pose and i can say that the camera did love her presence.
Pinky is probably one of the few girls who has all-in-one package as a model. I was surprised with her final outlook cause at one glance i just didn’t know that it was Pinky i was looking at when she was having a light snack. I know i know people have been saying that her looks are so typical but if the other girls don’t shift up a gear, they would just lose out to the likes of Pinky, Dawn and Liana.
I really hope Shasya does well in her catwalk cause i think that’s where she would excel. Just like Juanita’s make up, i don’t like how the foundation was applied for both girls. It’s obvious that Shasya looks a tone darker compared to her body and it was quite disappointing to see 2 girls having the same thing going on. Other than that, Shasya did fairly well in her photoshoot though there’s nothing to shout about.
Being a model isn’t easy in the first place and being a model with another 10 models eye-ing for the same prize, one would definitely need to up the game and of course be notice-able. Some girls let their pictures or catwalk do the talking and some just talk their heart out to be ‘real’.
Different girls play differently.
As the saying goes ….
“Keep your friends close but enemies closer.“
P/S: Probably by the time this entry is up, the girl’s first runway show would have been over as well. So do stay tune to find out, who stays and who doesn’t

shasya actually give me a rocker look.
she looks so different in pictures,
i tot she looks strong and fierce in the pictures.
and when i see her videos shes actually quite a shy person. i’ll start voting for her today :P
ming still look good in every picture.
denzia..needs to go for facial treatment.
she might not look pretty as others.
but i see something in her.

Wish I have a DSLR to take wide angle, my pic all come out so small when shooting group pic T_T. By the way, there’s actually 3 camps, one is neutral lol.

I agree with Amanda about Shasya, i love her look and it surprises me that she’s such a shy person in the videos.
However, she’ll only be my number 2. All my votes are all for Dawn, a close friend of mine. Dawn really can shine in the catwalk episodes

I do not about you guys but I think among all right…..Ming is the prettiest….you go girl…. she really does have everything to offer in terms of the whole package to be a model. She has a very unique beautiful face. This is what we want to be the next malaysian dream girl and not some normal decent face that you can find behind my house…

denezia has yet to show her potential..shes unaware of her strengths n weaknesses n thus that is reflected in her photos.
natasha is truly a beauty. she carries that 50s classy audrey hepburn look n feel real well.
farah despite the bad flak that she gets for her catwalk n her lack of tact in the house looks really awesome..almost like an angel.
juanita n syasya’s makeup does injustice for these 2 gerls. no thanks to the makeup artists. they obviously need more training to do makeup for tanned/olive skinned models.
dawn looks edgy. ming still spots that oriental beauty shots n pinky is cute.
maya n liana hv a long long way to go n i reckon they r the weakest alongside denezia.
oh, this is my own sincere n objective POV. no personal agenda involved ok? teeheehee

am back..wow kudos to all gurls..commone satkuru u can say better things bout juanita n shasya..look at iman n naomi campbell they hve darker skin but still they r the very best top model..in the world girl… no pan asian faces anymore..one elaine daly is gud enuf…go gurls..go shasya n juanita…

they did a splendid job for the rest but i think they could have done better for juanita and shasya.

Sorry. My mistake again. The results are actually out on Episode 7, part 5. I’m very very sad for the two girls that got eliminated. They really did not deserve to be out at the very first cut. I feel extremely hurt and crushed for them right now.

yes, I’m really sad and worried for the two girls who got eliminated. Not wanting to mention their names here due to possible spoiler giveaway, I felt really really sad for the first girl who got eliminated (you and I know who it is).
To see her crying and trying to find the words to describe her feelings, it just makes me sad and very disturbed at the fact that she actually got eliminated.
Though I’m just a regular person, I wished I was there for her. She was so shocked and weak when she was told that she had to go home. = (
I feel really bad for the second girl who got elimianted too. I adore her personality and she is clearly beautiful on the inside too.

I never saw that coming too. I was caught in the moment.
Satkuru, the beginning of part 6 reveals some negativities about another contestant who is still in the running that is pretty hidden and unexpected in my eyes.
Yes, I actually had to remind myself that it is a reality show to avoid getting too sad and be aware that the results are based solely on not just the number of voters, but the number of votes each voter casts or the actual number of fans of a particular contestant who actually take the effort or are able to vote for their choice.
